STEM Scholarship

Fall 2025-26

The National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM Scholarship seeks to increase and understand the success of high-achieving students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The scholarship includes:

  • Unmet financial need up to $15,000 annually for the length of degree
  • Paid one-week bridge to college program
  • STEM-mentorship program
  • Paid STEM-tutoring opportunities
  • 8-week paid internship
  • Free conference attendance
  • Park Woods (EMU's on-campus woods) forest restoration opportunities

Application Process

Complete an undergraduate application to EMU and submit your high school transcript. Once admitted to EMU, submit your scholarship application at the link above and have your reference complete the reference form. Contact your admissions counselor if you have any questions.

Your reference should be from a current or former teacher, preferably in a STEM subject, or a school counselor. It is recommended that you give yourself plenty of time to work on this application (don't wait until the last week). Request your reference as early as possible to give them time to also complete their form.

The application process will culminate with an online interview with STEM faculty members.
